Lions Trade Mathew Stafford To The Rams For Jared Goff

He set just about every Detroit Lions quarterback passing record including touchdowns, yards, attempts and completions, he dealt with thumb, ankle and rib injuries throughout the 2020 season and he even played with a separated shoulder during his rookie season throwing a game winning touchdown...but in the end, all the toughness Mathew Stafford could muster and play through and all the Lions records Stafford could set still weren't enough to bring the Lions to the promise land.

In the end he needed to make the toughest decision of his career, ask the Lions management to be traded. His wish was granted earlier today as the Detroit Lions announced they have traded the veteran quarterback to the Los Angeles Rams for quarterback Jared Goff and it looks like a third round pick in 2021, a first round pick in 2022 and a first round pick in 2023.

Stafford spent a dozen seasons with the Lions and is 33, Goff has been with the Rams for 5 seasons and is 26. Goff has already played in a super bowl with the Rams (losing 13-3 to Tom Brady & the Patriots) the closest Stafford has been to a Super Bowl is watching it on TV. With the trade is it Stafford's time to go to a Super Bowl and Goff's time to sit home and watch as a Lion next year? Lions fan reaction is surprise and shock but not about the trade (that was expected) but how much the Lions received in return for Stafford.
