Cristo Rey Community Center has been around since 1968.  Cristo Rey is a spiritual and social activity facility that serves more than 20,000 people annually.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Cristo Rey Community center is one of 22 organizations in Michigan to be able to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.

LSJ tells us that the center received the doses under a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services pilot program.

Cristo Rey has given about 200 people their first vaccine dose and plans to fully vaccinate about 200 people per month.  (LSJ)

As I was looking over the COVID-19 vaccination numbers today, over 140 million people in the United States have been vaccinated and we still have a long way to go.

Many of my family members and friends have either been fully vaccinated or are still waiting to receive their second dose of either Pfizer or Moderna.  Both vaccines are highly effective even after the first shot.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Cristo Rey has been serving vulnerable residents in Greater Lansing for more than 50 years, and those they serve trust Cristo Rey to provide them with quality medical care, mental health services, food and financial counseling.

The Dart foundation and the Ingham County Health Department have aided the center in getting up and running.  The health department is supplying Cristo Rey with its vaccines.  (LSJ)
