Lansing Area Firefighters Fill The Boot For Muscular Dystrophy
We had a great time yesterday at The Rusty Mug during our Wittle Weekend Kickoff Party with Leinenkugel's and we were happy to be able to join the Delta Township Fire Department for their "Fill The Boot Friday" for Muscular Dystrophy, their second of three that is being held at The Rusty Mug.
Paramedic and Firefighter Nick Oberst, a seven and a half year veteran of the department, told me that the International Association of Firefighters Local 2846 has been working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1954. He said that all of the money the department collects is used in Michigan to help pay for things like rental or purchase of medical equipment, transportation to appointments and treatments, flu shots, research and much more. The money also helps to send kids to Michigan based MDA summer camps.
If you're going to be on the west side this coming Friday between 4 and 8 p.m., make it a point to stop by The Rusty Mug and help our firefighters "Fill The Boot". No donation is too big or too small and it's for a terrific cause.
To get more info on how you can help the MDA, contact Cindy Clark, Executive Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Greater Michigan at 517-706-0348.
If you can't make it out to "Fill The Boot" on Friday, you can make a donation for the firefighters here.
