Westlund's Apple Market has taken to Facebook, yet again, for a gentle reminder that they don't have the potato salad.

The History of the Infamous Potato Salad at Apple Market

A little backstory for those who don't know about Westlund's Apple Market in Lansing and the continuing legacy of a certain potato salad.

Apple Market used to carry "Leon's Potato Salad". However, it was discontinued by the manufacturer in Fall of 2021.

And, despite literally being nonexistent for nearly four years now, the people still demand Leon's Potato Salad! Hence, Apple Market's latest Facebook post.

Jeez Louise, this potato salad must have been good because people will not stop asking about it.

However, if your taste buds simply demand Leon's Potato Salad, they do say there's a comparable potato salad available in their deli: Sandridge Traditional Potato Salad. It's even made by the same manufacturer of the old Leon's one. They say "The only difference is that the potatoes are sliced rather than cubed."

Bring Back Leon's Potato Salad

If you still aren't satiated by the substitute, Apple Market suggests you go straight to the source: Sandridge Food Corporation. The idea being that if enough people really want to see it return, maybe they'll start production again.

And a side note: Apple Market makes a delicious assortment of Midwestern salads. It was just too hot for warm food, so here’s the cold salad assortment I picked up today. Starting at the top and going clockwise: tuna salad, watermelon (I know it's not a salad, but I did get the watermelon from Apple Market), cheddar macaroni salad, and broccoli toss salad.
