Jason Aldean + Bryan Adams Among Collabs Added to All-Star 2022 CMT Awards Lineup
Jason Aldean and Bryan Adams are among the all-star collaborators from across different genres who have been added to the 2022 CMT Music Awards.
The country superstar and the Canadian rocker will team up for a joint performance at the CMT Music Awards when they air live from Nashville on Monday (April 11). In addition to their collaboration, CMT also added new performances featuring Jimmie Allen, Monica and Little Big Town, as well as Thomas Rhett and Riley Green. Walker Hayes has also been announced to perform solo on the broadcast.
An alphabetical list of CMT Music Awards performers can be found below.
The new acts join an already dynamic bill of awards show performers announced late last month: Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, Carly Pearce, Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson and Keith Urban were all among the first round of performers. They will take the stage to perform songs and collaborations during the ceremony, during which CMT will award categories including the evening's most important prize, Video of the Year.
Carrie Underwood, Mickey Guyton and Old Dominion were also added to the lineup on April 4. For her performance, Guyton will be joined by psychedelic soul group the Black Pumas. It's not yet clear what they'll perform.
The 2022 CMT Music Awards will also feature the first televised performance in more than two decades from the Judds. Priscilla Block, Breland, Jessie James Decker, Parker McCollum, Elvie Shane and Caitlyn Smith will all perform from the Ram Trucks Side Stage.
A press release on Thursday (April 7) also announced a slate of all-star presenters for the 2022 CMT Music Awards that includes Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Rob Corddry, Jordan Davis, Billy F. Gibbons, Gayle King, Taylor Lautner, Dustin Lynch, Martina McBride, Joel McHale, Kacey Musgraves, Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France and Antoni Porowski, LeAnn Rimes, Dylan Scott and Dennis Quaid.
CMT has whittled its list of Video of the Year nominees down to a final six: Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood's "If I Didn't Love You"; Kane Brown's "One Mississippi"; Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney's "Half of My Hometown"; Luke Combs' "Forever After All"; Cody Johnson's "'Til You Can't" and Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson's "Never Say Never." The final three up for consideration will be announced on April 11, with the winner revealed during the live broadcast.
Ballerini is also set to co-host the fan-voted awards show alongside Anthony Mackie when the 2022 CMT Music Awards air live from Nashville on Monday, April 11, beginning at 8PM ET. However she'll co-host from home with Brown jumping into aid Mackie from the stage. Ballerini's virtual participation is due to her testing positive for COVID-19. 2022 marks the first time the CMT Music Awards will air on the CBS Television Network, and the broadcast will also be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
Brown is the most-nominated artist in the CMT Music Awards with four nominations in 2022, including Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year. Artists with three nominations include Ballerini and Mickey Guyton, as well as Breland and Cody Johnson; the latter two are first-time nominees in 2022.
