TikTok Viral Candy Trend

The trend involves mixing various candies and ingredients to create colorful, eye-catching treats that appeal to kids.

One viral TikTok trend where users create "Tanghulu," which is a Chinese candy. You can coat fruits like grapes and strawberries in molten sugar.

However, this candy-making process is raising alarms among doctors because of the increasing number of burn injuries, particularly among children.

Since the sugar hardens quickly when exposed to cooler air, it increases the risk of suffering from severe burns.

This, unfortunately, happened to a 9-year-old boy in Pennsylvania after he tried making the candy trend. The molten candy spilled on his hand and suffered second-degree burns.

The method often includes using items like super hot sauces and spicy powders, which can lead to dangerous situations if ingested in large amounts. In some cases, children have been left with burns or severe stomach discomfort after trying these concoctions.

Health officials are urging parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely. TikTok, while an entertaining platform, can sometimes encourage risky behaviors without consideration for safety.

Doctors are also reminding parents to be around and cautious when their little ones are experimenting with these viral trends.

As the weather turns cooler and kids are spending more time indoors, parents are encouraged to have open conversations with their children about the dangers of trying viral trends without understanding the risks involved.

Stay informed, and remember that not every viral trend is worth trying!
