What Was The Previous Ford Recall?

Last year, Ford recalled more than 870,000 full-sized F-150 trucks because of the electronic parking brake.

The F-150s are back in the news for a different problem.

These specific F-150s are affected by the recall because of a rear axle hub bolt that can become a roll-away risk.

What Is The Current Ford Recall?

Now, Ford is back in the news. This time, it has to do with Ford Explorers SUVs.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Ford is recalling nearly 1.9 million Ford Explorer SUVs because of a trim piece that can fly off and be hazardous for other drivers.

This recall affects all Explorers from the model years of 2011 through 2019.

AP News says that this recall happened due to U.S. regulators opening an investigation into the issue last January after 164 consumer complaints were filed.

"Documents say that at first Ford decided against a recall, citing the low mass of the part. But the company decided to do the recall after U.S. regulators determined the problem was a safety hazard."

In a statement released by Ford on Wednesday, they shared that they expect that only 5& of the recalled SUVs will have issues.

However, they are asking all Explorer customers to contact their dealers to get an inspection when parts are available.

Once the dealers inspect the trim pieces, they will make sure the clips are engaged and add an adhesive to hold them in place.

All owners will be notified by Ford starting March 13, 2024.
