The question of the year has been...what exactly is coming, or not, to Grand Blanc? Well, it looks like a little of both.

If you have traveled in the Holly Road and South Saginaw Street area in Grand Blanc over the past year or so, you have seen the buzz of construction for the new strip center to be known as Grand Blanc Marketplace. From Starbucks to Jersey Mike's, which opened in December, Smoothie King, and most recently Wingstop, the plaza's thriving. Well, at least the S.Saginaw Street side is.

The plan was to see Ross Dress for Less and Five Below take over the long-vacant space that once housed Kmart and Farmer Jack/ A & P. Although the signs went up and renovations started, things went silent a few months back having residents wondering what the deal was.

In August we told you that Ross Dress for Less has pulled out of becoming part of the Grand Blanc community. Many were then questioning if Five Below would follow, and what the next move would be for tenants, and we are now getting a better picture.

Reports are saying, O'Reilly Auto Parts will take up residence in the new plaza. According to WNEM, the Grand Blanc City manager states that O'Reilly will take over the Kmart space. There's no official word on the opening date, but we will keep you up to date.

As the Grand Blanc Marketplace continues to take shape, residents are left waiting to see who will fill that final spot. Will Five Below ultimately open its doors, or will the plaza pivot in another direction entirely? There is still an open space in the strip section of the plaza as well which would be great for another eatery.

Either way, there’s still a lot of potential for the Marketplace to become a retail destination in the area, and local shoppers and business owners alike are keeping a close eye on the developments, eager to see how the plaza’s final lineup will come together.
