With the school year starting back up and autumn right around the corner, I thought it'd be a good time to remind everyone of the awesome "parks" we have right here in Michigan. Before the fall foliage becomes a thing, right now is the perfect time to check out one or more of my Top 3 Parks here in the state.

The first one which I absolutely love is Maybury State Park. Located between Detroit and Ann Arbor, it's the perfect destination spot for all kinds of nature lovers. Full of rolling, lush meadows flowing over 945 acres there's plenty to do for everyone. They offer pond fishing, miles of hiking and biking trails to get lost in the wilderness to. Escape reality and enjoy a nice picnic or do some fun horseback riding. Some great educational programming if you're an educator and would like to bring your students out to learn about the great outdoors. At Maybury they also show you how to shear sheep (yes, it's a thing), they have a sweet corn maze and hay rides during the fall season and public farming demonstrations.

My second favorite Michigan park to suggest is closer to Flint. It's Seven Lakes State Park, located in beautiful Holly, Michigan. This 5-star rated park (through Tripadvisor). If you're like me and love Kayaking, there's (3) separate lakes you can quench your thirst with through this relaxing activity. Hiking trails, of course are available. It's the perfect place that's "local" for relaxing and unwinding.

As we travel throughout the state, my third favorite place to visit is the Sleeping Bear Dunes in the U.P. Located in Empire on Lake Michigan. If you love sand, you'll love this beach like setting. Sand for miles and miles. Rich in history and if you're up for the climb, climb the dunes to the top (over 450 feet up). Once at the top, you'll have an amazing view. It's a great family experience. Visit the Island lighthouse, wander through the lush forests and so much more. It's a perfect weekend getaway.

What Lies Beneath: Historic Multi-Milion Dollar Saugatuck Estate with Mysterious Tunnels

Nestled amid the picturesque landscapes of Saugatuck, Michigan, a house holds secrets beneath its very foundations. Subtle conveniences or hidden questionable past? Whatever it is, this place is truly unique. It looks like any other home in suburban Michigan. Described as one of Saugatuck's most prestigious and historic properties, referred to as ''Riverside" the estate offers four bedrooms and 5 bathrooms inside its 5000 square feet of living space.
What is mysterious is the tunnels underneath the property leading to a studio featuring a bank vault office. Rumors swirl it was one used during prohibition and others that it was a hideout for the mob. Take a look inside.
