Kamala Harris, Gretchen Whitmer Share Oberon + Hot Mic Moments in Michigan Bar
When you're out on the campaign trail, you must assume there's always a 'hot mic' somewhere within earshot. Vice President Kamala Harris got caught discussing one of her campaign's vulnerabilities with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as the ladies enjoyed some Michigan-made beer at a bar in Kalamazoo.
The fairly innocuous moment occurred Saturday (10/26) after a campaign stop, during which the Presidential nominee was joined by former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Two Gals Chatting it Up in a Bar
Regardless of how you feel about either Presidential candidate, or how things turn out after the election is finally (finally!) over next Tuesday, I am personally glad that VP Harris got to try a truly fine Michigan-made beer.
"I'll have what she's having," Harris said, quoting the famous line from 'When Harry Met Sally,' as the two sat at the bar at the Trak Houz Bar and Grill.
The quote was met with several laughs before Governor Whitmer went on to explain that they were being served Oberon, a Michigan craft beer made by Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo.
"It's made right here in Kalamazoo, which many are calling 'Kamala-Zoo,'" the governor quipped.
Discussing the Campaign's Vulnerabilities
Near the end of the four-minute clip below, Harris appears to tell Whitmer about one of the struggles she faces.
"So my thing is we need to move ground among men," Harris says before realizing their conversation is being recorded.
"Oh we have microphones in here listening to everything," she says.
Governor Whitmer jokes that her 'F-bombs' will need to be bleeped, but as far as we can tell, there were none picked up.
"We just told all the family secrets," Harris quips. "S--t."
