If you've got a GameStop run baked into your schedule, quick trade-in, grab a gift card, pick up a pre-order, Lansing might want to brace itself. The unofficial closure tracker that has been circulating lists three different Lansing-area GameStops on the January 2026 chopping block.

The locations are:

• Delta Plaza at 5451 W. Saginaw Hwy
• Eastwood Towne Center at 2958 Town Center Rd
• Marketplace at Delta at 619 N. Marketplace Blvd

The Marketplace at Delta location has even had local reporting tied to a posted closing notice, with customers told where to go for outstanding orders and other store business. So it isn't just an online rumor.

What Polygon Says Is Fueling the Wave

Polygon's reporting frames this as a messy start to 2026. Closures are stacking up quickly, with estimates jumping from 295 locations, to 400 in a matter of a day. There is still no single, official nationwide list from GameStop that customers can easily find.

Zoom out further and the corporate breadcrumbs match the chaos. GameStop already closed 590 stores in 2024, and told investors it expects a "significant number" of additional closures in fiscal 2025. That year ends in January of 2026.
