Many of us enjoy looking for – and collecting – Petoskey stones. Sometimes we find 'em along the beach, and other times we resort to buying them at a souvenir shop. They are not always easy to find, ya know.

Well, this particular one is very easy to find: it's Michigan's largest Petoskey stone, which is actually an eight-thousand-pound boulder. This two-ton-Tessie sits on display outside the Besser Museum in Alpena.

The museum is an eight-acre facility with well over forty-seven thousand artifacts and displays, including:
1890s AVENUE OF SHOPS
HISTORIC VILLAGE
NATIVE AMERICAN EXHIBITS
PLANETARIUM
PREHISTORIC EXHIBITS
TWO-STORY PENDULUM
WILDLIFE GALLERY

…..and oh, SO much more, like the LaFarge Fossil Dig, where you can dig – and keep – all the fossils you can find.

The Besser Museum is open every day except Sunday, from 10am-4pm and located at 491 Johnson Street in Alpena.

If you don't think you'll be able to pay a visit soon, then take a look at the gallery below and see Michigan's Largest Petoskey Stone (Thanks to Michigan Rocks for the images)!
