Of course, you're not buying a massive home without an equally huge income (at least not anymore), so average income was also part of determining the 'snobbiness' of Michigan's cities.

As someone who prefers gas station coffee over a cafe and Slim Jims over Filet Mignon, I often feel out of place in some of Michigan's fancier locations. Part of that may be that the people I'm conversing with have educations far exceeding my 'some college.'

Remember that even Michigan's upper crust can feel like a fish out of water. Imagine putting a Kentwood resident in the middle of Stockbridge or expecting someone from Grosse Pointe Farms to blend into Baraga's background.
