So, when financial gurus at WalletHub release their annual look at the best real estate markets in America, I pay attention.

Michigan Has Some Strong Real Estate Markets in 2026

WalletHub compared 300 U.S. cities for its 2026 rankings, looking at both the strength of the housing market and the economic conditions surrounding it.

I'll spare you the real estate data avalanche for now. We'll get into exactly how WalletHub arrived at these rankings in a minute. What matters first is that several Michigan cities performed pretty darn well.

Grand Rapids Tops Michigan's 2026 List

Grand Rapids was ranked as Michigan's best real estate market for 2026 by WalletHub, earning a score of 61.96 and ranking 24th nationally among midsize cities.

And, as someone who lives in the Lansing area, I was genuinely happy to see Lansing make Michigan's top seven. It's nice to see Mid-Michigan land on a national list that isn't about potholes, orange barrels, or how long you should avoid eating lettuce to avoid Cyclospora.

Grand Rapids takes Michigan's top spot, but the rest of the state's highest-rated markets include a few expected names and at least a couple that surprised me.
