Aside from great tasting cheeses, Pinconning had something else that many Michiganders enjoyed: Deer Acres Park. This fun park also incorporated 'Storybook Land' that featured displays of our favorite storybook characters: Jack & Jill, Old Mother Hubbard, Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, and many more.

It entertained families for fifty years, from 1958 thru 2008, when it was sold. Ever since then, the displays, rides, and buildings have just sat around, decaying, molding, and crumbling.

Different owners came and went, with one wanting to hold classic car shows on the ground. Some shows occurred, but it wasn't profitable enough to sustain the park or bring it back to life, so now it sits at the side of 2346 N. Huron Road in Pinconning, with the life-size toy soldiers still standing guard.

An old Ferris wheel still stands but the old displays are not recognizable any more, except for maybe the Humpty Dumpty wall. Currently, the land is owned, so obey any 'No Trespassing' signs, or you WILL be prosecuted.....get permission.

The gallery below features some drone images of the current condition of Deer Acres Fun Park along with some old photos of the storybook displays when they were intact.
