Michigan is big on football, but you probably already knew that.

Sure, you can see it in the amount of team apparel – both college and pro – you see on the streets. But that still might not give you the most accurate assessment of just how much people love the game.

Sports, specifically football, are so popular in Michigan that the state is home to three of the largest stadiums in the entire U.S.

Let's first start with the home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field. It's not the largest stadium in the NFL, but it is up there with some of the venues that seat the most fans.

With a seating capacity of 65,000, Ford Field is ranked no. 52 on the list of the largest sports stadiums in the U.S.

When it comes to college sports, few states can match Michigan's sports stadiums when it comes to packing in the fans.

Spartan Stadium in East Lansing holds 75,005 people making it the 28th largest sports stadium in the U.S. Only five NFL stadiums have larger seating capacities than the home of Michigan State University football, which was built in 1923.

Of course, no NFL stadium or college stadium is larger than Michigan Stadium. The Big House in Ann Arbor seats 107,601 screaming fans making it the largest sports stadium in the entire U.S.

Here's how Michigan's sports stadiums compare to the 50 largest in the U.S.
