The crash killed two young siblings, 8-year-old Alanah Phillips and 4-year-old Zayn Phillips, and injured 11 others.

Chidester now faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree murder and several counts related to operating a vehicle under the influence causing death and serious injury.

Prosecutors revealed that Chidester's blood alcohol concentration was 0.18 on the day of the crash, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented video evidence showing the chaotic aftermath of the crash, with people screaming and fleeing the scene.

Body camera footage from a responding deputy showed Chidester admitting to having consumed some wine and taking medication for seizures.

Chidester's defense attorney argued that she had blacked out from a seizure behind the wheel and didn't remember the crash.

He stated that Chidester suffers from neuropathy and epileptic-like seizures in her legs. However, medical experts consulted by The Detroit News suggested that while this condition may affect driving ability, it is not known for causing loss of consciousness.

A lawsuit has been filed against Chidester and Verna's Tavern, where she allegedly drank before the crash.

Chidester faces a potential life sentence if convicted of the murder charges.
