In fact, in 2021 the state of Michigan said that 254 people were killed in traffic crashes while not wearing a seatbelt. The most alarming part that is that it was an 11.4% increase over 2020 numbers.

Starting today (Monday, May 15th) police officers, sheriffs and even Michigan State Police all across the mitten will be keeping their eyes out to make sure you're buckling up while you're on the roadways.

If they catch you without a seatbelt on, you could catch a ticket or fine. And, that's a lot cheaper than what would happen if you were to have an accident without that safety belt on.

The campaign will be running from now until June 14th, across the state. So remind your friends who are visiting for Memorial Day weekend, because that will fall during this time.

So do the simple thing and set a good example for everyone around you: buckle up. Because, I promise there is someone who wants you to come home safe and sound today and every day.
