Chicago-Style Fast Food Restaurant to Open Second Michigan Location
Chicago-style street food lovers, rejoice!
Chicago-based Portillo's often tops lists of restaurants folks want to see more of in Michigan. Well, a second location is set to open in the Mitten State!

The eatery began as a hot dog cart called "The Dog House" in Chicago in 1963. A few years later, it was upgraded to a larger trailer and renamed "Portillo's". From there, the restaurant expanded with brick-and-mortar locations. Portillo's now has more than 80 restaurants across the U.S.

Known for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Portillo's also serves Italian beef sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, chopped salads, burgers, cheese fries, homemade chocolate cake, ribs, chicken tenders, soup, and more.
Portillo's opened its first Michigan location in Sterling Heights in 2021.
The new Portillo's restaurant will be in Livonia, Mich.
Located at 13004 Middlebelt Rd. the 7,900 square-foot restaurant will feature a dining room with seating for more than 175, as well as a seasonal outdoor patio with room for about 50 additional guests. It will also have a pick up area and Portillo's signature double drive-thru lanes.

According to Detroit Metro Times, an opening date has yet to be announced. But it does seem like we are getting close!
Portillo's "Beef Bus" where folks can get a taste of what's to come will be Michigan March 21-March 30.
Here's the schedule:
- Thursday, 3/21: Portillo’s Livonia (13004 Middlebelt Rd., Livonia) 11am-2pm
- Friday, 3/22: Plymouth Food Truck Park 9:30am-2pm
- Saturday, 3/23: Glover Agency Easter Egg Extravaganza 11am-1pm
- Sunday, 3/24: Ann Arbor StreetSide 4pm-9pm
- Thursday 3/28: Plymouth Food Truck Park 9:30am-2pm
- Friday 3/29: Detroit StreetSide 3pm-8pm
- Saturday 3/30: Briarwood Mall 11am-6pm
Portillo's says service will begin at the time listed and will end when the Beef Bus runs out of food. Guests are encouraged to arrive as early as possible.
