USA Today and 10Best sought to find the Best Public Market in the Country. A panel of experts chose twenty markets that highlight what their home city has to offer. Then it was put up to a public vote.

More than 130 years old, Detroit's Eastern Market has its roots in two historic markets: A farmers market that began in the 1840s in Cadillac Square and a hay and wood market that stood on the current site.

Every Sunday, June through September, 10a.m. to 4p.m., you'll find a non-traditional farmers market that seeks to showcase the work of local artists, cooks, jewelers, musicians, and more.

Tuesday markets, June through September, 9a.m. to 3p.m. is great to stock up on fresh produce, baked goods, and meats. This market has special offerings including free Zumba and yoga classes.
