First Michigan Jack in the Box in 40+ Years Opens in Battle Creek

After more than four decades, Jack in the Box has officially made its return to Michigan. So if you've been wanting to try it without truckin' to another state, here is your chance.

Jack in the Box Returns to Michigan

More than two years ago, we told you that Jack in the Box was planning to open five new restaurants in West Michigan.

While there used to be multiple locations in the Metro Detroit area, those shuttered in the late 70s and early 80s.

This new expansion comes through a development agreement with franchisees Niraj and Nirmal Patel. The twin brothers are West Michigan hotel owners who operate multiple properties throughout the region.

The Patels revealed plans to bring at least five locations to southwest and south-central Michigan over the next several years.

The targeted areas include Kent, Kalamazoo, and Calhoun counties. Each restaurant could bring roughly 40 to 50 jobs to its community while giving West Michigan another fast food option. Now, the first location has arrived.

Battle Creek Opening Details

Michigan's first Jack in the Box in 40+ years is officially open as of June 15 in Battle Creek at 2588 Capital Ave SW.

If you have never tried Jack in the Box, the chain is known for a menu that pretty much does it all: burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, milkshakes, curly fries, and even breakfast items served all day.

The new Michigan restaurants will feature dine-in, drive-thru, and mobile ordering options, and they are expected be open 24 hours a day.

It’s believed eventually Jack in the Box in Battle Creek will be open around the clock.

The restaurant's current hours are listed as 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with Sunday listed as 4 a.m. to 4 a.m.

More Jack in the Box Restaurants Coming to West Michigan and Beyond

West Michiganders won't have to wait too long for more locations either. According to MLive, the next Jack in the Box will open in Kalamazoo, with construction expected to start in six to eight months. After that, the next restaurant will open in Grand Rapids.

Additional locations are also planned for the Detroit metropolitan area.
