Sushi Restaurant Permanently Closes One Grand Rapids Location
Grand Rapids has said goodbye to yet another restaurant. Recently we shared with you that a wine bar and restaurant downtown Grand Rapids closed it's doors. Now, a sushi restaurant with multiple Michigan locations has shuttered one of its Grand Rapids' eateries.

The owners of Maru Sushi describe it as a "chef-driven concept with a passion for putting love into each dish and guest interaction." The first Maru Sushi opened in Okemos in 2009, serving up Japanese cuisine with a modern twist.
Since then, Maru Sushi restaurants have opened in Detroit, East Lansing, Kalamazoo, Midland, and Grand Rapids - though now there is one less in GR.

Earlier this week the owners announced that Maru Sushi at 415 Bridge St. NW would be shutting down. The restaurant had been in operation for seven years.

They write, "starting Sunday, August 18, we will be officially merging with the Maru Cherry Street location. After much deliberation, we’ve determined that this is the best decision to better care for our teams and guests, allowing us to focus our efforts more intentionally on one location in this region."
So the good news is that you can still get Maru Sushi in Grand Rapids at the Cherry Street location.
At this point it's unknown what business, if any, will replace Maru Sushi on Bridge St.
