Michigan Is One Of The Most Disney Obsessed States, New Study Finds
Few people don't like Disney. Whether it be your kids singing Disney songs or YOU singing Disney, going to the movies as a family, or taking a trip to one of the Disney parks, there are few areas of entertainment that Disney hasn't touched. Whether it's Elsa or Iron Man, there are plenty of recognizable faces that people fall in love with.
One of Disney's biggest fans is our state of Michigan according to a new study that finds that Michiganders are willing to fork out quite a bit of dough for everyone's favorite mouse.
Disney Study
Test Casinos recently surveyed 2000 Americans about their Disney visiting and spending habits each year. One thing is clear: the people who like Disney REALLY like Disney and are willing to make sacrifices to keep up their adoration for the brand.
Pennsylvania is overall the top Disney state. Annually, Pennsylvania residents spend just under $4000 a year on Disney trips, are in second for how many Disney park trips in the last 5 years have been taken (4/person), and have the most "Disney Adults" of any state.
For the context of this survey, a "Disney Adult' is defined as a "childless adult with high enthusiasm for Disney". As someone who used to work at Disney World, I can confirm Disney adults can absolutely have kids and sometimes become even bigger fans once they have kids.
Where Does Michigan Stand?
Michigan ranks in the top 10 in two key categories. Like Pennsylvania, Michiganders average 3 trips a year to visit the Magic Kingdom or Galaxy's Edge. Considering Michigan is far from Flordia, this is a very dedicated group of people. That dedicated group of people may be Disney Adults. Michigan ranks seventh, with the state's childless adults leveraging their passion for Disney at a 6.5. Pennsylvania had a 7, so Michigan is not far off.
The report also found that nearly 50% of Disney fans feel any potential partners also need to love Disney for them to be together, and 35% say they are embarrassed to be fans of Disney as adults.
Whether you want to be or not, you've probably found yourself being a fan of something Disney has released in the last however many years. Michigan as a whole seems to be pretty gung-ho about the Mouse House, and that doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
