Three Great Lakes Named Among Ten Best Lakes in U.S.

What's YOUR favorite lake? That's the subject of a new USA Today 10best readers poll.

A panel of experts chose 20 lakes across the U.S. known for their fishing, boating, swimming, water sports, wildlife, and scenic views. It was put up to a public vote to determine the top ten - three Great Lakes made the top ten!

Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake Superior were all up for the best lake in the nation.

While Lake Huron did not make the top ten in USA Today's poll, these Great Lakes did!

Lake Michigan - No. 4 Best Lake in U.S.

Lake Superior - No. 3 Best Lake in the U.S. 

Lake Erie - No. 1 Best Lake in the U.S. 

I gotta say, I'm a little surprised Lake Erie took the top spot... granted, I've not spent much time on it and I did grow up on Lake Michigan, so I'm a tad biased, haha.

The Great Lakes (and Lake Charlevoix) were also in the running in a few other competitions too!

For Best Swimming Lake, Lake Charlevoix came in at No. 10, Lake Michigan at No. 6, Lake Superior at No. 5, Lake Erie at No. 3

In the Best Lake for Watersports category, Lake Superior came in at No. 8, Lake Michigan at No. 4, and Lake Erie at No. 1.
