There is another difference in these products that are made for American consumption compared to those in other countries and it revolves around the dyes, preservatives, and other ingredients. This is no fault to any one company but the government as a whole as they have not banned these dyes, preservatives, and other ingredients from being used in America like the other countries have.

Kellogg's in Battle Creek, Michigan has been known as one of the premier manufacturers in the food industry as they have a line of breakfast cereals, pastries, and other tasty treats that we have been enjoying for years. Over the last few years, they have been approached multiple times by doctors and other worried individuals about changing their manufacturing processes.

After not making any changes because they haven't violated the law, the ante has been upped and they have started to protest the company. On Tuesday October 15th, almost 1,000 people were standing outside of the Kellogg's Headquarters here in Michigan to protest their lack of commitment to their promises.

Kellogg's had promised to remove these harmful dyes and chemicals from their cereals and other products by 2018 like they have done in other countries, but to this day, they have yet to make any changes. They provided a petition that had over 400,000 signatures in support of their protest, but nothing has been said by Kellogg's at this moment.

Although they haven't looked to remove these harmful chemicals, they may have to soon as California has become the first state in the United States to ban the following dyes:

  • Red Dye No. 40
  • Yellow Dye No. 5
  • Yellow Dye No. 6
  • Blue Dye No. 1

The new development could spread to other states which would cause Kellogg's to rethink their decisions to not change their manufacturing processes and get rid of these chemicals and dyes so they can continue to make money and sell their products.
