Lansing Ice Cream Lovers: This Flavor Contest Wants Your Best Idea

Do you like to play mad scientist in the kitchen? Do you have a sweet tooth? Then I have just the thing for you:

Capital City Sweets is hosting a flavor creation contest.

If you've ever felt a calling to create your own ice cream, this is your chance!

How the Flavor Contest Works

Capital City Sweets announced the contest on its Facebook page, and here's how it works:

• March 3-8 — During this week you can comment your ice cream flavor idea. You can also "like" the other flavors you enjoy to vote for them to get in the next round.
• March 9-13 — The community will come together to pick the top eight flavors, which will head into bracket-style elimination until we are left with just two flavors.
• March 17-22 — Capital City Sweets will bring the top two flavors to life so they can be sampled and voted on to pick our favorite. The winner will become April's flavor of the month.

If you want to submit your ice cream creation, it's easy. Go to the Capital City Sweets Facebook page, find the post talking about this contest, and comment your flavor.

Must-Haves for Your Flavor Entry

Your flavor idea should include a name and a description. Ice cream descriptions include:

• ice cream base ( vanilla, chocolate, etc.)
• variegate (a swirl like peanut butter, strawberry, fudge, etc.)
• inclusions (cheesecake pieces, graham cracker pieces, candy, cookies, etc.)

Fan Favorite Flavor Ideas Already Suggested

Alena C. submitted their idea: Go Bananas Foster. It has a combination base of banana and vanilla ice creams, brown sugar swirls, and inclusions of caramelized bananas, cinnamon hints, and caramel bits.

Sabrina M. had the idea for River Trail Delight: vanilla ice cream, caramel swirl, and inclusions of pretzels, M&Ms, peanuts, and chocolate chips.

And I just love Marianna U's suggestion: the Snowbird. It's a vanilla custard base with a key lime swirl and inclusions of graham cracker pieces and candied lime zest.
