Seeing the homeless on the street is always tough, especially this time of year when it is so cold outside. Sure we all dig in our pockets at the red light to give but is it enough, probably not.

There are plenty of ways to give in the Lansing area like Homelessangels.comthe City Rescue Mission in Downtown Lansing and there are plenty more in your neighborhood if you google seach.

Homelessness in Michigan is on the rise here and all across the country according to a study published by the National Alliance to End Homelessness and thecentersquare.com.

Homelessness Has Grown In last 7 Years

The truth is Americans who are homeless have risen since 2015, and as of one year ago, there are almost 600,000 Americans who are hungry and have no place to live.

Nationwide, men are far more likely to experience homelessness than women, and rates of homelessness tend to be higher among historically marginalized racial groups. In Michigan, an estimated 8,638 people are experiencing homelessness - or about 8.6 for every 10,000 people, the 15th lowest homeless rate among states.

There are many ways to help and bring our homeless numbers down like making cards to promote nearby shelters, donating clothes, especially socks, volunteering your time in your neighborhood. and of course fundraising.

So if things are going well for you these days, this is a great well to help and give back.  It doesn't matter how much time or money you can donate, no amount is too small.

How To Get Help
