The Mackinac Bridge is 59 years old today. I'm always amazed that it took "only" three years to build it. I can't imagine what trips to the U.P. would be like without it. Wait. Yeah I can. A heck of a lot longer, that's what.

If you want to get a real close to the bridge without driving over it, go visit the Colonial Fort Michilimackinac souvenir shop in Mackinaw City sometime. The bridge starts there and goes directly over the store. I would think that constant traffic noise would get old real quick if you worked there..
