Happy Birthday to Chuck Norris. Today he turns 76 years old.

What follows is not one of those made up "Chuck Norris facts". (Even though you can click here for some good ones.)

In August, in the year of our Lord, 1990, Chuck Norris drove a speedboat (named "Assault of the Great Lakes") from Chicago, up Lake Michigan, through the Straits of Mackinac and down to Detroit on Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair, to set the speed record for that 605 mile trip at 12 hours, 8 minutes and 42 seconds.

He'd attempted the same trip the year before with his good pal and Chicago Bear Walter Payton, (possibly the coolest boat crew EVER) but they ran into weather problems and didn't set the record. It would become, to my knowledge, the only time Chuck Norris failed at anything.
