Halloween Bucket Colors and Their Meaning in Michigan
Halloween is going to be here before you know it, and that means you might see some different colored trick-or-treat buckets when kids come to your door.
Sure, blue, could just be that child's favorite color. However, the traditional jack-o-lantern buckets might actually have different meanings depending on what color they are.

When I was younger, I just carried around my favorite Spongebob pillow case. And while I still see kiddos collecting candy with pillow cases, I also see lots of those jack-o-lantern buckets.
Trick-or-Treating Buckets Color Meanings
If you plan to pass out candy this Halloween, here's a quick guide to the colors you might see and the deeper meaning behind them.
- Teal Bucket - Means the child has an allergy, perhaps a peanut or tree nut allergy
- Blue Bucket - Means the child is autistic
- Purple Bucket - Means the child has epilepsy
This neat color-coded system makes it easier to communicate what's going on without saying a word, and in the end, helps every kids who wants to participate in Halloween and easier and more accessible way to do so.
You may also notice a few other buckets in fun, spooky shades. Pink buckets can signify breast cancer awareness, and sometimes even black buckets are used for kids who may have dietary restrictions. So, when you're handing out candy this Halloween in Michigan, keep an eye on those buckets and maybe even stock up on non-candy treats. It'll make you the hero of the neighborhood, and who doesn't want to be the coolest house on the block?
