A fifth grader in Coopersville, Michigan has started her own pet bakery to help pay for her mom's cancer treatment.

Calina Doane, 11, is the creator of "Bean's Bakery" and received some inspiration after taking a class with Modern Woodman, a fraternal financial services organization. Who pledged to match Doane's earnings up to $2,500. You can read the full story on Fox 47's website.

The Doane's story

Doane's mother, Tanya, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer this past winter. Following a previous diagnosis in 2019. Doane tells Fox 47 that she was hoping the money she made from the pet bakery would help her family and mom's treatment.

Doane wrote on the Beans Baker Facebook page that her urge to give back comes from her mom.

My mom had raised my siblings and I to always help others and give with an open heart.

Treat Information

Doane has four different treats to choose from. Three of the options she created herself and the other was a recipe given to her. All of the treats are safe, pet friendly and come in a package of 6. If you plan on ordering, please specify on which treats you would like.

  • Music Munchies - strawberries, bananas, sweet potatoes and fine oat flakes.
  • Perfectly Pawsome - fine oat flakes, peanut butter and pumpkin.
  • Bone - Apetite -  carrots, kale, corn, pumpkin, and fine oat flakes.
  • Dainty Donuts - peanut butter, strawberries, pumpkin and fine oat flakes.
