Is There a Fast Food Billboard Battle Happening in Lansing?

The Lansing area has no shortage of places to get a chicken sandwich, however, I never thought that two of those places would end up in some kind of battle.

Fast Food Restaurant Battle?

I was having lunch with a co-worker recently, and since we both work so early in the morning, lunch is pretty early too. So when you're looking to eat lunch at 10:30 in the morning, you only have a few options. One of those options was Popeye's Chicken. It sounded good, so we went.

We ate inside the restaurant and lunch was good. But as we were sitting there, about ready to leave, we noticed something rather odd (and honestly, downright hilarious) outside the window of the Popeye's.

Outside of this particular Popeye's location at Cedar and Willoughby, there is a giant billboard situated just outside. The billboard itself wasn't the odd thing, It was what was on the billboard that was so interesting...

It was the fact that is was an advertisement for another fast-casual chicken eatery down the road; Detroit Wing Company.

Is There Beef With These Two Chicken Joints?

This billboard is HUGE, right next to the Popeye's sign, and especially prominent from the window inside the restaurant.

Now, I don't know if this is some kind of Guerrilla Marketing technique or just an unfortunate (for Popeye's) coincidence. But regardless, it's giving Wendy's energy, and I'm here for it.

Wendy's is known for bringing the smoke. Could this be one of those situations? Who's to say? But I would love to see some kind of response from Popeye's.
