East Lansing Downtown Underground Market Events Canceled
Back in February we were so happy to tell you about an amazing concept for Downtown East Lansing that was like a farmers market but INSIDE and UNDERGROUND.
It was the East Lansing Downtown Underground Market.
The East Lansing Downtown Underground Market will be hosted every other Sunday on the lowest level (level P1) of the M.A.C. Avenue Garage, 310 M.A.C. Ave., through early May 2021. (City of East Lansing)

The dates were Sunday, February 28th through Sunday, May 9th (and as stated above happening every other Sunday).
It was a great idea and it happened maybe a couple of times.
However, Michigan has become a Covid-19 hotspot (AGAIN) and East Lansing is not without it's woes. Big news stories about the virus at Harper's at the beginning of the pandemic, the UK variant on campus, mask mandates inside and outside Downtown EL, AND with Covid-19 numbers trending and spiking up again, it wasn't hard to see this coming.
We saw this story first from our broadcast partners WILX and afterwards we checked online with the City of East Lansing for confirmation.
After the postponement of the April 11th EL Downtown Market, the final two events have been cancelled altogether.
Due to continued high rates of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the area, City of East Lansing staff have made the difficult decision to cancel the final two East Lansing Downtown Underground Markets scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 25 and Sunday, May 9 as a part of the “Daytime. Nighttime. Anytime. Place Project” (Place Project). (City of East Lansing)
