There was no big announcement about the closure — just a flyer posted to the door. But, that flyer did shed some light on what's happening.

Bruegger's Bagels officially closed its doors on March 20. With that sad news did come a silver lining: after some remodeling, another bagel place will be moving in.

What's Replacing Bruegger's in East Lansing

Students, East Lansing residents, and more will soon be able to patronize Einstein Bros. Bagels. Here's what the flyer said:

It's been a pleasure. We are hanging up our aprons. This location will be closed on March 20, 2026. Never, fear, fresh-baked bagels will be coming soon. Einstein Bros. Bagels will be moving in after a brief remodel.

While I'm sure people will be happy to see a new bagel place open its doors, I'm sure lots of people are sad to see Bruegger's go. Bruegger's Bagels has been around for years, since at least 2007.

It seems like East Lansing isn't the only instance of exchanging one bagel place for another. In September 2025, all the Bruegger's Bagels locations in Cincinnati closed and reopened as Einstein Bros. Bagels, which is owned by the same parent company as Bruegger's.
