The holiday season brings lots of meals. Often times there is more than one "dinner" to attend with family, grandparents, friends or coworkers. What do people like? More imporantly, what food makes people roll their eyes and think, "not this again".

Traditionally ham or turkey is served as a main dish, stuffing, cranberries, gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies. If you want to be the hero of Christmas dinner, serve up a prime rib.

When we entertain at home for the holidays we consider everyone's tastes, we want to impress when we provide our meal. There are some dishes that people despise, Woman's Day compiled the list. Avoid these menu items if you still want to have friends and want your family that talk to you. If you have a sense of humor try serving all these dishes for a good laugh.

Avoid These Menu Items For Christmas Dinner

Easter fruitcake on the stone background

Fruit Cake - ugh, just no.

Pannetone Bread - what the heck is this? All Recipes describes it as:

Pronounced "pah-net-taw-nee," Panettone is an Italian yeast-leavened bread, usually made with raisins, candied fruit peels, almonds, and brandy.

Mincemeat Pies - what started as little meat pies evolved into a combination of meat and fruit. Yuck, I haven't tried them with meat, mine are usually loaded with weird fruit and a overwhelming spice.

Jello Molds - I've had one fruit mold I liked, it was a strawberry jello with fresh strawberries in it. Outside of that, I'm not a fan of jello or jello molds.

Roast Goose - I recently watched the 1938 Christmas Carol, Tiny Tim was overcome with joy because of the goose his dad, Bob, picked up after being fired by Scrooge. To this day I have never attended a Christmas dinner where goose was served.

Eggnog - uh, Woman's Day, you are wrong. I recently did an on air study and people still love their eggnog.

Christmas Pudding - this is what's in the dish. Looks like a hard pass for me. The Conversation says:

A Christmas pudding should have 13 ingredients – that represent Jesus and the 12 disciples. Traditionally, these ingredients include: raisins, currants, suet, brown sugar, breadcrumbs, citron, lemon peel, orange peel, flour, mixed spices, eggs, milk and brandy.

Fancy Green Bean Casserole

Green Bean Casserole - what the hell? I love this dish, how about you?

Candycanes a favorite treat at Christmas time

Candy Canes - I have a question? Who is serving Candy Canes at their Christmas dinner? I wouldn't want that either. Candy Canes are good for post dinner before you kiss underneath the mistletoe.
