Craig Campbell Covers One of His Favorites on Radio, Maren Morris’ ‘My Church’
Craig Campbell has started a new series on his social media channels called Woman Cover Wednesday, a play on the hashtag #wcw (Woman Crush Wednesday) where he posts covers of songs by female artists. First up? Maren Morris’ "My Church."
Campbell performs the tune from a couch with just an acoustic guitar, but first gives an intro about the WCW videos and why he chose the tune.
“This is actually one of my favorite songs on country radio right now,” he declares. “I truly do, when it comes on, I lean over and I turn it up."
Campbell launches into the song's first verse, showing off his smooth vocal skills as he tells Morris’ story in his own way. His voice melds well with the tune, and the chorus he performs is strong, tweaking the end a bit to fit his vocal range. Campbell only performs the first verse and chorus, but it sounds so good, fans may wish he’d done the whole thing.
Campbell encouraged fans to comment and suggest future covers for WCW.
The singer-songwriter recently released his new single “Outskirts of Heaven,” which he calls “one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written.” It’s a classic country style tune describing what Campbell hopes heaven will be like when he arrives. He’s currently touring and has several dates coming up across the U.S. before he hits the festivals this summer.
