The restaurant scene throughout Greater Lansing is always in flux. So far this year we've seen lots of openings. However, we've also seen several closings.

Perhaps one of the most notable closing announcements has been from Coral Gables in East Lansing.

When is Coral Gables in East Lansing Closing?

Coral Gables announced its impending permanent closure on Facebook on June 2. After nearly 60 years under the same family's ownership, and 100 years serving food at that location, the last day of operation will be Tuesday, June 30.

Since this sad announcement, the outpouring of love from patrons has been tremendous! The original Facebook post about the closure has over 1,800 reactions, 500 comments, and 900 shares.

Why Coral Gables Is Changing Its Hours

In fact, Coral Gables has received so much community support since the announcement that it has had to update its hours of operation to give staff a chance to catch their breath. Don't get me wrong, they are incredibly grateful for all the love shown—they just need a moment to catch up.

To give their staff the break they need, Coral Gables has been adjusting opening hours, opening later instead of the earlier 9 or 11 a.m. opening time. Additionally, they've been closing from 2 to 4 p.m. to take a break and prepare for dinner service.

Check Before You Visit

If you're planning to visit Coral Gables to pay your respects and bid a final farewell, the best thing you can do is to check their Facebook page for updates about the hours they'll be open.
