Soon there will be a lot more milk and cheese being produced in Mid-Michigan as construction has gotten underway in the St. Johns area on a $555 million diary processing plant. According to a report earlier this year from the Lansing State Journal,  an Irish food and nutrition company called Glanbia Nutritionals announced plans for the plant in St. Johns industrial park.

Officials say that the new dairy processing plant, projected to be one of the largest dairy processing operations in the country, will process approximately 8 million pounds of milk per day and will also produce around 300 million pounds of cheese a year. The new plant is scheduled to open sometime in the year 2020 and is expected to create nearly 300 new jobs for the area.
