Candy Hearts May Be A Thing Of The Past
"Say It Ain't So"...according to a report from NBC News, the company that makes those fun little conversation hearts shut down abruptly earlier this week. The report says that Round Hill Investments LLC announced earlier this week that it is selling its Necco brands to another manufacturer and closing down its Revere plant in Massachusetts.
Necco, or New England Confectionery Co., is the country's oldest continuously operating candy company and has supplied us with the Sweetheart conversation hearts, Necco wafers and more treats for many years. According to Wikipedia, Necco manufactures nearly 8 billion Sweethearts per year. With the plant closing, many wonder if they new company will continue making the conversation hearts. So far, there's been no official word...."Stay Tuned".
