CADL Releases Thousands Of Vintage Photos Of Lansing Homes
Have you ever wanted to know what your house looked like years ago? If your home is old enough, the library may have the answer for you. Earlier this week, the Capital Area District Library Local History Department added over 17,000 photographs--taken in the 1960s and 1970s--of houses in Lansing. The vintage photographs are labeled by their parcel numbers according to the county, township and block where the house was/is located.
Here's a little tip...according to the CADL Local History Facebook page, if you know of a home you want to search for, use the "Browse By Term" option in Local History Online, and choose the letter your street name starts with from the Search Terms list. If your street appears, select it, and you will find all the records that have a photo of a home on that street. You can find out more about the numbering system and see the photos by clicking here.
