Michigan: This Trendy Burger Topping Could Make You Sick
I'll admit - I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to burgers.
I'm not one for much adventure when it comes to my hamburger. Just slap a piece of American cheese on that bad boy, maybe some bacon. Some lettuce, a couple of slices of onion, maybe a pickle or two, and we're good. Oh, and just a little mayo. Don't go too crazy.

Maybe that's too plain for some. And that's ok. To each their own. But some of y'all are really pushing some boundaries.
If you haven't ventured much outside the state of Michigan, you may not realize that the olive burger is very much a Michigan thing. The rest of the country looks at us like we're crazy when they find out we do that.
However, olives are tame compared to another burger topping that's becoming all the rage in Michigan.
I'm looking at you, you runny egg people.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would want to desecrate a perfectly good burger with a runny egg of all things.
What's the appeal? America's Test Kitchen puts it this way:
When you have an egg on a burger, the yolk soaks into the bun, creating one of the best flavor combinations imaginable. And what’s better than the subtle savoriness of egg yolk? That, combined with the yolk’s creaminess, elevates the whole flavor profile of the burger.
That's gonna be a big nope from me, dawg.
But again - to each their own. If you want to play roulette and see if your burger can give you salmonella, be my guest. Here are some places in Michigan where you can get your disease.
