What’s Happening With This One Lansing Restaurant?

There's a Lansing restaurant that's making some waves on social media recently, and not necessarily in the best way.

What's fantastic about Lansing is that there are so many unique, locally-owned restaurants. There's never a shortage of places to choose from.

One recent addition to the Lansing food scene is Bobcat Bonnie's, and that's the restaurant that's all over the Lansing area social media food scene.

Bobcat Bonnie's is a Michigan-based chain that opened its Lansing location in February 2024 in the historic former Clara's Lansing Station. Now, a little more than a year later, Bobcat Bonnie's future seems uncertain.

What's Happening With Bobcat Bonnie's in Lansing

In a recent post to Facebook, Bobcat Bonnie's said that it's very scary to be a small business in these times, with many small businesses closing due to increased rents, insurance, products, and many other changes.

Additionally, in this post, Bobcat Bonnie's makes it clear that they're looking for a partner to come into the business and help with a couple of aspects, namely bookkeeping and the other financial aspects.

According to WLNS, there were reports of alleged bounced or missed paychecks from employees. WLNS also reported on other allegations in the video below.

Bobcat Bonnie's Closes Multiple Locations in 2025

This sort of plea for help comes a few months after two other Bobcat Bonnie's locations closed. The Wyandotte location closed in January 2025, and the original Corktown location closed in March 2025.

The Grand Rapids location is listed as permanently closed on Google, and as of right now, there hasn't been any word or movement about the opening of the hopeful Kalamazoo location since October 2024.

What Can We Expect From Bobcat Bonnie's?

It seems like Bobcat Bonnie's owner, Matt Buskard, and the staff want to take time to see the "company get a stronger foundation", but also say "if we are to stay alive- we need to change and add a financial brain to our concept."

So in the meantime, the Ferndale and Lansing locations will remain open and the Bobcat Bonnie's team will be looking for a partner to help them achieve their goals.
