Behind The Scenes At WITL: My Short People Problem
I have a feeling that all my fellow short people can relate...
To give a little context to my upcoming story; I, Kristen Matthews, am pretty darn short. I'm not gonna go into exact numbers or anything, but if you've ever met me in person or have seen a picture of me next to anyone of "average" height, it's quite obvious how short I am. Jump to Banana Don, who I would guess may be as tall or taller than "average". I really have no way of knowing though because everyone's taller than me, but back to why this is relevant...
Every weekday morning, after Banana Don and Stephanie McCoy have wrapped up their show, I come into the studio to begin mine. In order to do that, I have to sit in what some may call the pilot's seat; it's the one in front of all the controls. This is also the seat that Banana Don happens to sit in. Most mornings, Banana is kind enough to lower it down for me. But sometimes he forgets, and I literally end up having to climb into the chair. Some may ask, "Kristen, why don't you lower the chair yourself, or get a shorter one?" And both are fair questions, to which I would answer, "There's no way for me to lower the chair without having to sit on it (again, I would still have to climb into it to do), and a short chair wouldn't work either, because I couldn't reach the controls while sitting."
So, I climb into the chair if need be. Once, a fellow short co-worker saw me climb into the chair and laughed because she could relate. She's the one who took these pictures of me. I hope you enjoy! lol
