Banana Don’s Slice of Americana – Best and Worst of 2013

We continue with winners and losers from 2013, to defeat "conversation lull" at parties.

The highest grossing movie WORLWIDE this year? According to the "Business Insider" website, it was:

"Iron Man 3" starring Robert Downey Jr.

                                Your nerd friends think this is real.

It cost $200 Million to make and brought in $1.2 BILLION worldwide. Wow.

The biggest box office bomb? Again according to Business Insider:

Disney's "The Lone Ranger", starring Johnny Depp as Tonto.

Co-starring his "bird-hat".

Oh, yeah.The guy actually playing the part of The LONE RANGER? Armie Hammer.

I actually saw the movie and had to look that up. Do you see a problem, Disney?

It cost Disney $250 Million to make, and after all the marketing costs were added, they ended up losing close to $200 Million dollars. Which is why French fries and a Coke at Disneyworld will cost just a little more next summer.
