Maybe it's God's way of telling us that we don't need this and we need to eat healthier.

Nope. Negative. That's not it. That's not what's happening.

What is happening is that at practically EVERY fast food drive-thru (or coffee spot), there's a line practically wrapped around the building.

All of them.

And don't you dare think of getting out of your car and going into the lobby.

You know how many times I've said, "I've had enough of  this and I'm going inside"?

Oh no you won't. Hold up partner. You're not going in cause the doors are locked and the lobby is closed.

Get back in line at the drive-thru sir. And now, I've got three more cars in front of me.

Outstanding.

What is going on and what's happening?

Do we need more people?

Not in line but working at the restaurants. Restrictions have been lifted, things are back open, and folks...simply are not working. And the race to hire people is pretty intense.

Mickey D's is offering $13 bucks an hour and signing bonuses. Like you're a coveted sports player and they're trying to recruit you.

Is it a health thing?

The CDC’s new guidelines have resulted in a lot of changes, including at our favorite eating joints. Starbucks has dropped its mask mandate, but only for people who are fully vaccinated, as have a number of other retailers, restaurants and cafes. If you’re not fully vaccinated yet, you can continue to stick to the drive-thru, get takeout or go in if you’re properly masked up. (tasteofhome)

For whatever reason, the lines are long and appear to be staying that way for a while. With numbers going BACK up, we could be getting mask restrictions and mandates again. And if restaurants were slow to open their doors before this new Delta variant surge, I'm sure they won't be in a hurry to rush to do it anytime soon.

Don't want to wait in that long line? That's what all those fancy delivery services are for.

But I do know some folks who are happy to wait for their food. No matter how long it takes.

I guess after being on lockdown and cooped up for so long, waiting in your car for a Butter Burger and shake from Culver's is worth it. No matter how long.

Or you could make your own instead of waiting in line. We've got recipes.
