A game camera that was set up by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to track deer movement in the Upper Peninsula actually ended up capturing pictures of a cougar. The image of the cougar is from Gogebic County which is about nine miles north of Ironwood. The cougar picture was captured on the game camera on October 1st, 2018. The Michigan DNR has confirmed 38 reports of cougars in Michigan since 2008. That number does include multiple sightings of the same animal.
