2026 is shaping up to be another big year for Lansing-area eateries opening. There are already around 20 restaurants planning to open in the next 12 months.

Now, we have yet another restaurant to add to the list.

Altu's has served Ethiopian dishes from its original location on Michigan Avenue in East Lansing for the last 30 years. Now, Okemos will get a taste of this beloved spot.

Where the New Altu’s Will Be

Altu's is opening this second location at 4738 Central Park Drive, which used to be a Panera Bread, but has sat empty for the last five years.

When We Might See the Doors Open

So far, there are no exact opening dates set, but according to the Lansing Sate Journal, the soft opening could be as soon as early February.

If you want to keep up to date on an exact opening date, you can keep an eye on Altu's Facebook page—that's where they plan on updating the public.

Altu's has a very loyal following of patrons and boasts a 4.7/5 rating on Google, which is pretty excellent. I'm sure Okemos locals will be very happy for this new addition.

A second location of this popular Ethiopian restaurant is one of many restaurants planning on opening this year. We should also see Bubbakoo's Burritos, YaYa's Kitchen, Pizzawala's, and more open soon. Get more info HERE.
