After 37 Years, Southeast Michigan’s Diamondback Saloon is Closing
Talk about a legacy...
After 37 years, southeast Michigan's favorite country bar, Diamondback Saloon, is closing its doors.
Diamondback Saloon in Belleville is Closing
Known for its live music, line dancing, and bike nights, Diamondback Saloon was super popular amongst Belleville and the residents of southeast Michigan. Now, patrons will have to find a different country bar to enjoy.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, the bar originally opened back in 1985, and that's how long the owner has been operating the bar as well. Now, they've decided to retire and sell the bar.
If you'd like to spend one last evening in country music revelry, the bar will be open for one last day on Friday, December 23rd from 6 pm to 2 am.
We'll have to see how the legacy of Diamondback lives on because it is being purchased by a new owner. However, the plan is to turn it into an event venue. What that means is still unclear.
Remembering Diamondback Saloon
I had the opportunity to speak to a former employee about Diamondback's legacy and what it meant to them and their patrons, and this is what they had to say;
Diamondback was a bar that people never forget. Whether you just came in on a random Friday night for $1 beers and shots or you were a regular. It was the kind of bar where everyone treated you like family and where the regulars had been regular for actual decades. The owner truly deserves the retirement he's heading to, but it's hard to think of that bar being anything but The Diamondback.
Diamondback Saloon will surely be missed.
