A Sneak Peak At One Of My Favorite Christmas Traditions
Every family has their own Christmas traditions. Maybe you always get together to make cookies or you have a fun secret Santa gift exchange. Well, my family makes golumpki.
For anyone unfamiliar, golumpki is a traditional Polish dish, usually served around Christmas time or for big events like weddings or reunions. You may know it better as it's more common name; stuffed cabbage.
Making golumpki is my absolute favorite Christmas tradition. It reminds me of when I was a little kid and my parents would take me and my siblings to my grandma's house to make them for Christmas dinner. We had a blast helping, and they definitely needed the extra hands; making golumpki is an allllllll day kinda thing... especially when you have 13 aunts and uncles (yes, you read that correctly, I have 13 aunts and uncles... on my mother's side alone), their significant others, and all their children coming to Christmas dinner at grandma's house. A big Polish family requires a big Polish meal.
My grandma passed away a few years ago, but her tradition lives on in me and my husband. Every year the hubby and I (and whatever family members can help, lol) make golumpki to take to Christmas dinner. Check out some of the photos from this year's golumpki extravaganza in the gallery below!
Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition? I'd love to hear about!
