It's been a big December for the Michigan State Women's Basketball team and their head coach Suzy Merchant. First, over the weekend, Michigan State handed No. 3 Oregon its first loss of the season. The Spartans beat the Ducks on Sunday by a score of 88-82. The Michigan State Women's Basketball currently has a record of 8-1 and according to an article posted on NCAA.com, the weekend win was MSU's first victory over a top three opponent since 2005 when they went to the Final Four. Also, according to MSUSpartans.com, Michigan State head women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant was honored and presented with the 2018 ATHENA Leadership Award by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon that was held last week  at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing.
